Amazon opens customer service centre in Egypt, the largest in MENA
Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 24 - 10 - 2022

Amazon on Monday announced the opening of its largest customer service centre in the Middle East region. Located in New Cairo, the centre is designed to serve Amazon's customers across Egypt, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Germany, and Australia, Amazon added in a statement.
It is set to create more than 1,600 job opportunities and is equipped to provide customer service to Amazon shoppers. The opening also comes as Amazon prepares to enter its busiest shopping season with both 11.11 and White Friday taking place next November.
In addition, the centre will provide a wide variety of employment opportunities with roles ranging from customer support to technical and managerial positions in customer service, quality assurance, training, data analysis and communications.
Omar Elsahy, general manager of Amazon Egypt
Built for inclusive employment opportunities and ease of accessibility, Amazon said the customer service centre has recruited several candidates with disabilities. The process was carried out through partnerships with NGOs for access to talent with special needs, programmes for recruiting women, and general recruitment drives. The centre will reach its full capacity by 2023.
"We are excited that Egypt has been selected as the home for one of Amazon's global customer service centres. During the past year, since our launch, we have been working with some of the best talent and are thrilled with the skill sets that we have seen." Omar Elsahy, general manager of Amazon Egypt, said.
"The large, educated workforce, diversity of talent and language proficiency available in Egypt, complemented by the digital transformation plans laid out in the Egypt Vision 2030, has made it possible to extend the coverage of the customer service centre beyond the region.
Zertashia Awan, Director of Customer Services at Amazon MENA
"Amazon's commitment to an inclusive work culture has played a huge role to bring on board many people with disabilities and provide them with the right kind of training to set them up for success in their roles." Elsahy added.
"Customer-centricity is at the core of our operations," said Zertashia Awan, Director of Customer Services at Amazon MENA.
"Amazon is constantly building capabilities to deliver an unmatched experience to all our customers across the world. The new customer service centre in New Cairo meets all our global standards and is well-equipped to provide world-class service to Amazon's always growing customer base not just in our region but as far as Germany and Australia as well." Awan added.
