Amazon announces launch of Egypt platform this year
Amazon has been operating in Egypt since 2017 through its subsidiary, Souq.com

The global e-commerce website, Amazon, has revealed its intention to launch its Egypt website this year, to give entrepreneurs, business owners, and local sellers the opportunity to reach a larger number of customers nationwide.
In the announcement on Monday, the company said the registration for local sellers would take place through the Amazon Seller Partner Center, a tool dedicated to managing their businesses.
Amazon clarified that sales partners previously registered on Amazon's Souq.com affiliate can access their accounts through the Amazon Seller Center. They will also be able to verify the accuracy of their information, and try the new features available, in preparation for selling their products on the Amazon Egypt website immediately after its launch.
Omar El-Sahi, General Manager of Amazon and Souq.com in Egypt, said, "The launch of the Amazon Seller Center in Egypt is an important step in our journey to support local Egyptian companies of all sizes, and provide greater opportunities to expand their business and reach millions of customers."
"With strong support for local retailers, sellers, brands and artisans, we are pleased to work alongside the industrial sector in Egypt to continue serving customers across Egypt," he added.
El-Sahi said that the success of these merchants and sellers is Amazon's top priority, with the company continuing its commitment to providing an outstanding shopping experience to customers. This will be backed by the benefits that matter to them which are competitive pricing, wide selection, and fast delivery.
Amazon's culture is centred around giving customers more choice, so the company supports and empowers local entrepreneurs, business owners, and sellers. It is worth noting that more than 50% of the products sold on Amazon stores globally today come from small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
As part of its endeavour to enhance the success of its selling partners, Amazon offers a range of tools and programmes available at their fingertips throughout the year. This includes launching marketing campaigns to increase the opportunity to discover their products from customers, in addition to offering promotional offers to customers through discount vouchers (coupons).
Sellers can also choose from several easy and convenient strategies when shipping orders to customers, including Fulfillment by Amazon. Under this facility, their products are sent to Amazon warehouses, with the company handling all logistics related to the order.
Amazon has been operating in Egypt since 2017 through its subsidiary, Souq.com, and continues to provide a distinctive experience for customers and selling partners in Egypt.
The company's commitment to customers in Egypt is exemplified by the strength of its local operations, which it has continued to develop since the acquisition. Amazon operates an extensive logistics network and local operations across Egypt, which includes the main warehouse supported by 15 delivery stations across the country.
In addition, Amazon has administrative offices, customer service offices, and a local team of more than 3,000 people between management, customer service, and operations.
