President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met Thursday with Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah in Cairo, in a high-level discussion focused on strengthening economic, trade, and regional cooperation. The talks also addressed ongoing efforts to stabilise Gaza and support reconstruction following the Israeli attacks of more than 2 years. The meeting included key Egyptian officials, among them Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Atty, and Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Hassan El-Khatib. The Kuwaiti delegation featured top officials including Subaih Abdulaziz Abdul Mohsen Al-Mukhaizeem, Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Acting Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment, alongside representatives from Kuwait's investment authority. According to the Egyptian presidency, Sisi welcomed the Kuwaiti premier, highlighting the historical and strategic ties between the two nations and conveying greetings to Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah. The president praised Kuwait's efforts towards economic development and regional stability, noting the longstanding friendship between the peoples of Egypt and Kuwait. Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al Ahmad Al Sabah, in turn, relayed greetings from the Kuwaiti Emir and praised the progress in bilateral relations. He congratulated Egypt on the recent opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, a project symbolising the country's rich cultural heritage, and acknowledged the contributions of the Egyptian community in Kuwait, particularly in healthcare and education sectors. The leaders discussed advancing trade and investment cooperation, building on the outcomes of Sisi's state visit to Kuwait in April 2025. Both sides emphasised priority sectors for joint investment, with Sisi reaffirming Egypt's commitment to facilitating Kuwaiti investments and removing any obstacles to their success. Regional issues, particularly the situation in Gaza, were also on the agenda. The Kuwaiti prime minister praised Egypt's pivotal role in fostering stability in the region and welcomed Cairo's efforts to broker a ceasefire and support reconstruction. Both parties agreed on the importance of fully implementing agreements and accelerating rebuilding efforts in Gaza to alleviate the humanitarian crisis. The meeting reflects Egypt's broader strategy to deepen economic and diplomatic ties across the Gulf, while positioning itself as a key player in regional conflict resolution.
