The Antiquities Ministry said Egypt will receive on Monday 80 artifacts that were smuggled to Brussels two years ago, after a Belgian court ordered their return. “The pieces go back to the prehistoric, ancient Egyptian, Greco-Roman, Coptic and Islamic eras,” said Osama al-Nahas, head of the ministry's committee for repatriated antiquities, in a statement on Sunday. The pieces reportedly include 27 scarab statuettes, three ancient Egyptian amulets, 11 wooden and stone statues, a child's cloak and piece of fabric from the Coptic era, part of a vessel in the shape of a lion from the Greek era, and a pottery jar from the Naqada II period, which spanned from 3650 to 3300 BC.
