Forty political movements and parties have agreed to start the civil disobedience associated with the anniversary of Mubarak's resignation a day in advance, with a march to the headquarters of the ruling Supreme Council of Armed Forces (SCAF) in the Abbasseya district. The agreement came during a meeting attended by the groups' representatives on Tuesday. Among attendees were representatives for 25 January Revolution Youth Coalition, April 6 Youth Movement, the Youth for Freedom and Justice Movement, the Revolution Youth Union, the Wasat Party and the Ghad al-Thawra Party. They plan to hold a peaceful vigil at SCAF headquarters. They object to the council advancing the beginning of nominations for presidential elections to 10 March without setting a date for actual elections and the handover of power. “We agreed to hold an open-ended strike stating on 11 February until our demands are met,” said Haitham al-Khatib, spokesman of the Revolution Youth Union. “But those who want to end it on the same day may do.” Khatib explained that university students were invited to participate in the strike's first stage. A later stage would include the banking sector, and a third stage would include the transportation sector. “We'll allow workers of the transport sector to join but without disrupting transportation,” he said, adding that the health sector was not asked to join due to its critical importance for saving lives.
