The Muslim Brotherhood (MB) opposition movement has posted a statement on its website calling on all political forces to resist attempts to bequeath power to Gamal Mubarak, the 47-year-old son of President Hosni Mubarak. "It will be done through rigging elections," the group warned in the statement, which also encouraged citizens to join the National Association for Change formed by would-be presidential candidate Mohamed ElBaradei. "All forces must seriously confront this plot so that the regime understands that the Egyptian people have the final say in their political futures," said MB spokesman Mohamed Moussa. The group also rejected foreign intervention in Egypt's internal affairs, especially under the pretext of promoting democracy. In a related development, brotherhood MP Hussein Ibrahim said the group would field 22 candidates in Alexandria in upcoming parliamentary elections. "The opposition will not allow the police violations that took place during the last elections to be repeated," he said. Translated from the Arabic Edition.
