Activists from several political movements staged a march on Wednesday demanding the release of blogger Alaa Abd El Fattah, who is imprisoned pending investigations into accusations he incited the Maspero violence that resulted in 28 deaths on 9 October. Participants gathered in Saad Zaghloul Square in the Raml station area and marched to the Unknown Soldier Square in Mansheyya. Aside from calling attention to Abd El Fattah's case, they also called for the release if all detainees tried by military courts, saying they should be tried in civilian courts. Abd El Fattah was called for questioning and then arrested on 30 October. Military prosecutors ordered him detained for 15 days pending investigations into allegations he incited violence against the military when clashes erupted in front of the state TV building during a Coptic protest.. Activists raised banners during the march reading "No to military trials for civilians" and "Freedom for Alaa Abd El Fattah." They also shouted slogans against military rule.
