Three unidentified gunmen attacked a prisoner-transport vehicle in Cairo's Ayyat district, killing one police officer and injuring four policemen and five convicts. The gunmen fled the scene after freeing a prisoner named Ahmed Selim. According to security sources, the perpetrators--using a pickup truck for the operation--shot randomly at the policemen that had been guarding the prisoners.
