Ahly fans trial postponed to October

The Nasr City Criminal Court on Wednesday postponed its ruling on the case of seven soccer fans accused of rioting after a football match last week. The court decided to extend the defenants' detention until the verdict session on 5 October.
On Saturday, the Public Prosecution decided to refer seven Ahly supporters to an urgent trial and refer seven minors to juvenile prosecution.
The prosecution charged the defendants with assaulting police officers, damaging public and personal property, and disturbing public safety.
They had been arrested for rioting after an Egypt Cup encounter with KIMA Aswan on 6 September.
According to press reports, the fans clashed with security officers after chanting slogans insulting former President Hosni Mubarak and former Interior Minister Habib al-Adly.
According to official reports, several police vehicles were burned and 88 people - including six police officers - were hurt in the violence.
