Children''s corner: Summer camp registration
Published in Almasry Alyoum on 13 - 05 - 2011

Although Egypt is not particularly known for it's plethora of summer camps, the idea is gaining in popularity, and if your kids are out of school for the summer, it might be a nice idea to send them off for a few weeks of fun.
Depending in part on the age of the children, summer camps can either be day camps (like school) or sleep-over arrangements, where your children spend the night in tents, cabins or even hotels.
Although it may seem that summer is a month or so away, this is exactly the time to get moving on registration for summer activities for your children. Check online, make calls and get your summer organized with these kid-friendly options.
Cairo American College
The CAC Summer Program caters to children from the age of 4-15. Children can enroll in the first or second session - the first is from June 19-June 30 and the second from July 3-July 14. Younger children can sign up for a half-day from 9-2pm or the normal full day available to all ages, from 8-3pm. There are also courses offered for an hour a day like pottery and science labs. The full day for younger kids includes some water safety and swimming training in case that affects your decision. “Early Bird” registration is over but you can still register online and pass by the CAC campus at 1 Midan Degla, Maadi. Although prices are quoted in US dollars, you can pay in Egyptian pounds. Prices range from US$400 for a half-day camp spread over ten days, and US$500 for the full-day camp, to US$165 for a specific course for the same registration period. Head to http://www.cacegypt.org/summer2011/index.php for more information. You can also call Cairo American College on 02-2755-5555.
Baby Academy
The Baby Academy is a nursery with branches in Mohandiseen, Heliopolis and Maadi. They stay open all summer for their nursery students but also hold a summer camp for older children, from the ages of five and up. The camp begins on 1 June and lasts until 31 August, so your children can come and join up at any time. The camp is taught, like the nursery, in English, French or German. You can contact the Baby Academy by calling 012-226-6699. Or go to http://www.gozoorgroup.com/refrences/baby/program.html#Summer%20Camp for more information, although prices are not listed.
Fun Yard
A well-known nursery in 6th of October, Fun Yard has been holding a summer program for over four years. The summer program runs from 15 June to 15 July. Contact the nursery on 010-700-0871 for more information.
Swiss Club
