Several unrelated fights broke out on Monday in the Cairo, Giza and Beni Suef governorates, leaving two people dead and 61 injured.
The clashes reportedly involved the use of Molotov cocktails and firearms. Dozens of people were arrested, but others are still at large.
Security sources said a dispute over money lead to a fight between five people in Masr al-Qadima, Cairo. Eyewitnesses said the fight went on for more than two hours and involved gunfire and Molotov cocktails. Two passersby were injured and a fire broke out in a nearby home.
In Imbaba, Cairo, a large-scale fight between drug dealers broke out on Sunday evening. Over 40 people exchanged gunfire and Molotov cocktails were thrown, leading to the injury of 12 people and the destruction of 4 shops.
Meanwhile, one person was killed and seven injured in the same neighborhood when a fight broke out between two families. A female member of one of the families had been harassed by a member of the other family.
In Giza, south of Cairo, 11 people were injured in a brawl between two families caused by a dispute between a worker and his neighbor who works as a plumber. Six others were injured in Umraniya, Giza, after a student harassed a girl.
In Beni Suef, armed clashes erupted for the second time on Monday between the al-Zuqoon and the al-Khatabiya families in Wasty, resulting in the death of a young man and the injury of 20 people. The clashes which involved firearms and Molotov cocktails also caused a home to burst into flames and the death of seven cows.
On Sunday, police had arrested 20 members of the two families following a previous battle between them, which also involved firearms and Molotov cocktails and in which dozens of people were injured.
