The suicide bomb attack on Alexandria's Church of St. Mark and St. Peter on New Year's Eve was “a nasty crime” that would not affect the unity of Egyptians in any way, saidpresidential scion Gamal Mubarak, head of the ruling National Democratic Party's influential policy secretariat, in a statement on Monday. “Egyptians start the new year with grieving hearts over the victims of the attack,” he added. He also said that Egyptian have always stood united against attempts to cause discord within their society. “The Egyptian people and government tell those behind this terrorist act that they will be brought to justice sooner or later,” he said. “Egyptian Muslims and Copts share the same homeland and the same history,” he added. “Nothing can affect their unity.” Translated from the Arabic Edition.
