The first three films are by director Samira Makhmalbaf--daughter of renowned filmmaker Mohsen Makhmalbaf--who made her first film, "The Apple," at the age of 21, and became the youngest recipient of two Special Jury awards at the Cannes Film Festival for her subsequent works, "Blackboards" and "At Five in the Afternoon." The series will also include "Buddha Collapsed Out of Shame," directed by Hana Makhmalbaf, Mohsen's daughter, and "The Day I Became a Woman," the first film directed by Mohsen's second wife, Marzieh Makhmalbaf.
