The Deputy Speaker of the Egyptian National Council for Human Rights, Dr. Kamal Abo El-Magd, sent a telegram to Dr. Ayman Nour, leader of al-Wafd Party, to congratulate him on his release for health reasons. Abou El-Magd said in his telegram that he went through a similar experience 40 years ago and adds: "I am happy you are back to the world of freedom, in which people's talents and capacities can thrive." Yesterday and on Sunday, Nour received dozens of calls and telegrams congratulating him on his release. This came after Al-Masry Al-Youm had printed that the general supervisor of the Specialized National Councils, Dr. Kamal el-Shazli, had sent a bouquet of roses to Nour for the same reason. Nour's wife, Jameela Ismail, said that after the news was printed, they were flooded with phone calls and telegrams from leading figures of the National Democratic Party [NDP]. She also said that the inhabitants of el-Bagour province, MP Kamal el-Shazli's electoral constituency, invited Nour to visit them and hold a conference there. Among the most important public figures who sent telegrams to Nour to congratulate him was opera singer Hassan Kami, the head of the Ibn Khaldun Center Saad Eddin Ibrahim, al-Azhar Scholars Front member Hamad el-Sharbini, and constitutional jurisprudent Yahiya el-Gamal. Mr. el-Gamal said in his telegram that Nour's release could revive Egypt's stagnant political life.
