Abo-El Magd: If I Were Younger, I''d Join a So-Called Terrorist Group
Published in Almasry Alyoum on 16 - 02 - 2009

Dr. Ahmed Kamal Abo-El Magd, Deputy Speaker of the Egyptian National Council for Human Rights, declared that he backs the resistance called "terrorism" by the West. He also affirmed that if he were younger, he would join one of these resistance movements.
Speaking yesterday at his lecture on the family, the media and contemporary challenges, held at the Faculty of Information of Cairo University, he affirmed that violence and injustice generate terrorism. He said so in response to a question concerning the accusation of terrorism leveled at the Arabs and Muslims by the West.
He also described the Arab Nation as amazed in an amazing world, saying it is going through what can be described as a sedition leaving a forbearing person confused.
He explained that it is very difficult to follow the right path and that missteps are possible, adding that the Nation does not benefit from experts' experience as they are not on a path leading to the decision-making circle.
Ha said the issue of the intellectual elite's method seems absent in the Arab Nation in an era in which the media builds one's emotional and rational condition.
He pointed out that consecutive scientific revolutions have piled up and become so entrenched that any invention carries the seeds of a new invention, while science moves forward very quickly.
He also added that some people keep abreast with science while others lag behind, withdraw toward the past and doubt the future.
He said isolation is not a solution and that people must learn so that they can keep up with scientific development, adding that those who do not realize this have no role in life and indeed lie to themselves.
Abo El-Magd also stressed that any society must revolve around values and that the Arab society is not able to feel the passing of time.
"The problem of traffic jams, for instance, is not easy and once I even said it is more important than amending the Constitution" he said.
