The founder of al-Ghad [Tomorrow] Party Ayman Nour was flooded with roses, boxes of chocolates, SMSs and phone calls after being released from prison. The Secretary General of the Specialized National Councils, Dr. Kamal el-Shazli, and the member of the National Democratic Party [NDP] Policies Secretariat, Dr. Ali Eddin Helal, were among those who congratulated Nour. Curiously, some pieces of furniture inside Nour's apartment were completely submerged by the many boxes of chocolates and bouquets of roses. El-Shazli sent a bouquet of roses, two boxes of chocolates and a greeting card to congratulate Nour on his release from prison. Other cards were sent for the same purpose by: the deputy head of the Justice and Development Party (not fully established, yet) Anwar Sadat; Mona Makram Abid, professor of economics at the American University; Abdel Aziz Badrawi, leading figure of al-Wafd Party; Nagui el-Shehabi, head of el-Guil [The generation] Party; Fawiz Ghazzal, head of Misr [Egypt] 2000 Party; and some members of the People's Assembly. As for Dr. Ali Eddin Helal, he sent an SMS to Nour's wife Jameela Ismail's mobile after he failed to call him on Mr. Nour's own mobile. For his part, Nour proposed the Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Mohamed El-Baradei and the Deputy Chief Justice of the Egyptian Court of Cassation, Counselor Hisham el-Bastawisi, as candidates for the presidential elections in 2011. After the press conference at his party's headquarters on Thursday, Nour made some statements calling on the different political forces to rally around some figures enjoying unanimous popular support in order to support them at the presidential elections. He also added that Egypt must become a real parliamentary democracy.
