Students and professors have demonstrated on the American University campus for the second consecutive day, demanding the release of human rights activist and film director Philip Rizq, their post-graduate colleague who was captured by the security forces last Friday when he was taking part in a march organized by Egyptian and foreign activists to the Gaza Strip to support the people of the sector. Meanwhile, the Arab Human Rights Network said state security forces have at dawn stormed the home of Philip's father and tried to take him to their headquarters under the pretext of seeing his son, but he refused to go with them. The students and the professors agreed to demonstrate every Monday and Wednesday until Philip is released. They have contacted various international human rights to pressure for his release.
The university plans to show Philip's film ‘Al-Somoud' that demonstrates the peaceful Palestinian resistance in Cairo, and that he has worked on for two years while he was working for a UN organization in Gaza.
Al-Masry Al-Youm has learnt from security sources that Philip is still being held at the headquarters of the state security, and that the decision to refer him to the Public Prosecutor has not yet been issued.
