There are different kinds of coffee, such as the American one that melts quickly and the Arab light one with some cardamoms. There is also the Arab dark coffee, which is usually bitter with no sugar. In addition, some people prefer the Turkish strong black coffee or, on the contrary, the Italian espresso, which is very light and dark. Cappuccino is a coffee-based drink prepared with espresso, hot milk, and steamed-milk foam. There is also the Italian Moka, which is very light and dark and has no sugar. In addition, there are different kinds of coffees such as the French Café au Lait, Irish, Vienna or cold coffee. I meant to shed light on these different kinds of coffees because there is a wonderful play titled Qahwa Sada [Black Coffee]. In fact, this play, directed by creative director Khalid Galal and starring a group of creative young people, exposes a state of internal and external spoliation through a wonderful text that focuses on all states of spoliation. This play has been edited by Ahmed Fouad, who cleverly makes you a part of the tragedy. This wonderful play sheds light on our history, dreams and homeland. It wants to say that extortionists and thieves plunder our homeland while we are just onlookers.
A group of university students and graduates, who study various branches of dramatic art, perform the play skillfully because they love Egypt from the bottom of their heart. Indeed, every word reflects concerns and worry over the plundered country. Every whisper in the audience's ears is, in fact, a cry to make us take care of our homeland. All these talented people, who are in one place and under one roof, are creators, as they managed to bring joy to the hearts of people who are sad due to the death of creativity. In fact, those talented young people who perform this wonderful play on stage of the Egyptian Opera, give us hope for the future. I have once imagined that long queues stretch only for 80-octane petrol, bread and Viagra. Strangely enough, I discovered that there are twenty-meter-long queues – maybe longer than those of bread - to get a ticket for "Black Coffee" in the Egyptian Opera, whose stage is getting ready for the New Year's Eve.
