Egyptian and Arab Aid to Gaza Continues; 300 Wounded Expected to Arrive to Northern Sinai Hospitals

Rafah port on Thursday was day and night receiving aid and medicines to support the people of the Gaza Strip. It also continued to receive the injured Palestinians.
The total amount of aid received by the Palestinian side through the port on the fourth day of its opening reached 400 tons of medicines and food from Egypt and some Arab countries, including 220 tons of food and medicines worth LE 30 million from the Egyptian Red Crescent and the Medical Association.
There were also 16 trucks from Libya loaded with generators for the hospitals of the sector, as well as 14 trucks loaded with medicines. Qatar sent 45 tons of aid material.
All aid was delivered by the Egyptian Red Crescent.
 
Ahmed Orabi, Chairman of the Egyptian Red Crescent, said the rest of the aid material will be sent today via an air bridge from Arish airport.
In a related development, the hospitals of northern Sinai received 39 injured Palestinians, and 300 more are expected to arrive.
Dr. Sameh Anwar, director of Arish Hospital, said that many cases were in critical condition, and that 12 of them were sent to Nasser Hospital in Cairo and two cases to the University Hospital in Ismailia. He added that many cases underwent major surgery, noting that the medical team is of the highest level.
 
Thousands of residents in North Sinai donated their blood, filling the blood bank with more than 1000 bags.
