Nasserist lawyers protest for Al-Aqsa
Published in Almasry Alyoum on 28 - 10 - 2009

A group of Nasserist lawyers called for expelling the Israeli ambassador at a protest yesterday condemning what they called Egyptian silence toward Israeli violations of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Political activists from a number of other groups took part in the protest, including members of the frozen Islamist-leaning Labor Party and the Popular Committee Gathering to Support the Palestinian People. The protesters gathered in front of the offices of the Bar Association.
Protesters chanted slogans including, "Abdel Nasser said it once, the enemy is the Americans" and "Shame, shame, Egypt's silence is shame." They also held banners reading, "We shall not leave Al-Aqsa."
The protests come after an Israeli police raided Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa Mosque compound on Sunday and arrested 12 Palestinians.
"The Arab people's adherence to the culture of resistance is the only way to reclaim Al-Aqsa Mosque and Al-Quds," said Said Abdel Ghani, Secretary General of the Nasserist lawyers group in the Bar Association.
Abdel Ghani said that legitimacy should be restored to the Palestinian Liberation Organization and the Palestinians should unify their ranks. He also suggested that Palestinians take up arms.
The Nasserist lawyer also said the assault on Al-Aqsa is part of an Israeli plot to Judaize Arab lands in and around Jerusalem.
