The Talk Show is completely different from "Toktok show." The Talk Show is the main source of information and characterized by its entertainment nature. Charlie Rose's program on U.S. General Channel is a good example; in this program Rose has an interview with a president then with Toni Morrison, the winner of Noble Prize in Literature. And the third interview is with an artist. In all of this, Charlie Rose seems to be familiar with information about a distant country such as Egypt, to be one of the readers of a great novel in Literature, and to know about plastic art. Another example is George Astvannpols' programs whether on ABC on Sundays or on NBC channels. George was the former president Bill Clinton's chief adviser. Also, the Talk Show program presented by Fareed Zakaria, the 'News Week' editor-in chief, is another example. He got his Ph.D in political science from Harvard University where he was Huntington's student. It was Huntington who nominated Zakaria to be the editor of the famed 'Foreign Affairs' magazine. And, Stephen Sacker's 'Hard Talks' on the British BBC channel is another one. Those are the shooting stars of the Talk Show programs in the West: they are intelligent and fully aware of the topics under discussion. And they have interviews who are as cultured as themselves. This is the world of the Talk Show which is the product of the civilized societies. But here, some of our Talk Show programs should not be called as Talk Show but to be called as "Toktok" shows after the flimsy toktok cars in Egypt. For the non-Egyptians, the toktok is a three-wheeled car over-loaded by people in Cairo districts. This is also found in Delhi's crowded streets. It is not strange that many of the Egyptian Talk Show programs change from a serious entertainment tone to one of unknown origin. There are many unknown faces and voices in our channels. Instead of the 'Egyptian Literate' program in the 1960s which had a great impact on neighboring countries, now we have another image due to our shows which can be called as 'Ugly Egyptian' portraying ignorance and a lack of a sense of humor. Now, Egypt is dominated by Allimbi's culture which is based on Khalety Franca's advice to her son: "You have your knife so do not be afraid of anyone." In Allimbi's film and culture, one of the greatest songs of Umm Kulthum is made fun of. The lyrics, "If You Love For Two Days, Your Love Would Have Made You Into An Angel" followed by Allimbi's expression "Hush hush rooster, this chicken is not for you." Already, we have voices in press, politics and media which are equal to Allambi and they have become shooting stars in the Talk Show programs. Of course, such people were not at ease in the right Talk Show programs so they turned to the "toktok show" programs which are the suitable place for such people. The 'toktok show' program as a random phenomenon is a part of another wider phenomenon of random activities in Egypt which include construction and traffic. Another phenomena found in television is the style of some girls clothes and characters which they think is funny. We do not know from where they come to the Egyptian society. Who convinced them that Liberalism is like that to the extent we become confused between 'playmate girls' and 'girls on live?' Egypt has known before Mrs.Laila Rostom, Salma Schamma and Doria Sharaf al-Din as liberal presenters with an accepted style away from the obscene scenes which hurt the eyes. Those three presenters belong to the real Talk Show which respects the audience's mind and style. Of course, there are many successful presenters and programs which are greatly successful but they are few ones, Egypt has to look at its image in the mirror culturally, politically and media wise to move from being a failed country in culture to its normal position with a great history. Egypt's history should contribute to its upward progress not in its failure to the extent that our history is only the history of the "toktok" shows and Allimbi which encroach upon us and leads us downwards.
