Inter-Palestinian Fresh Dialogue to launch in Cairo Amid Less Optimism
Published in Almasry Alyoum on 29 - 06 - 2009

Yesterday morning, the new round of the Palestinian national inter-reconciliation was started in Cairo, between the delegations of the rival Fattah and Hamas movements. Fattah was represented by Ahmad Qurai'(Abu 'Ala'), the member of the Fattah central committee and the general commissioner of organizing and mobilization, whereas the Hamas delegation was headed by Dr. Musa Abu-Marzuq, deputy political bureau chief of Hamas. Meanwhile, the hope for reaching an accord ending the inter-Palestinian break-up is still far.
Informed Palestinian sources mentioned that: the two parties are expected to discuss the pending issues, which haven't been finished yet during the last rounds. In addition to discussing the findings reached by the joint committee during the last couple of days in the west bank and Gaza strip,  in order to end the political detention file in the west bank and Gaza strip.
The sources also revealed that the two delegations representing both Hamas and Fattah met last night on a business dinner hosted by Egyptian officials. The meeting was held to prepare for the official meetings started today as an introduction to the meeting with minister 'Umar Sulayman. This meeting was supposed to be held yesterday evening or today, Monday.
The sources also stated that there are some controversial issues between the two parties not ended yet, on top of them is the law of elections and the ratio of ending elections, plus the ways of professionally- reforming the security departments, in addition to the factions committee assigned to run Gaza issues until the end of the presidential and legislative elections by January 2010.
The Fattah delegation is represented by Ahmad Qurai', as a president, Nabil Sha'th, Zakariya Al-Agha, 'Azzam Al-Ahmad, Sa'd Al-Karnaz, Majid Faraj and Samir Al-Mashharawy. However, Hamas movement is represented by Dr. Musa Abu-Marzuq as a president, 'Imad Al-'Alami, Dr. Mahmud Al-Zahar, Muhammad Nasr, Khalil Al-Hayah, Nizar 'Awadallah and 'Izzat Al-Rishiq.
On the other hand, news varied yesterday about Hamas and Israel reaching a deal entailing extraditing the Israeli soldier Jil'ad Shalit to Egypt – to be deported to Israel- in return for releasing more than a thousand Palestinian captives.
'Abd-al-Nasir Farawnah, an activist in defending the Palestinian captives, said that procedures are going on inside the Israeli prisons to prepare for a potential deal with Israel. The deal is pertaining to exchanging captives between Hamas and Israel. However the Israeli defense minister Iahud Barak denied that news released in media regarding progressing negotiations about Jil'ad Shalit and the deal for exchanging captives.
Yesterday, the Israeli newspaper Yadu'ut Ahrunut published the words of Barak "there is no progress in that issue and the news regarding Egyptian security envoys visiting Israel is not true"
Yesterday, an outstanding Hamas leader said that his political bureau is not sure if Shalit, who has been detained for three years in Gaza, is alive or dead, he added that they don't know what happened to Shalit, especially after the last Israeli war on Gaza five months ago.
In a press statement, Usama Al-Mizini, the assigned spokesman about Shalit's file, said that a Hamas military leaders committee is responsible for that file.
Al-Mizini also denied the news about indirect negotiations on exchanging captives between Israel and Hamas is going on adding that "recently, the occupying entity has run a media tempest claiming that there are progressive negotiations and some mass media believed it, however, as a matter of fact, there is no such serious negotiations"
