Theory of Cubes under the Dome!
Published in Almasry Alyoum on 17 - 06 - 2009

Absence is always measured by the power of presence or charisma. Someone might be absent and one does not feel his absence because he lacks a strong presence. And sometimes your soul is affected by the absence of someone whose presence fills the world.
Thus none of us will feel today and for the next several months that the parliament session has adjourned, and perhaps it will no longer return to its current standing.
The parliament presence is equivalent to its absence. Ask yourself before you get surprised: what has the People's Assembly done over their four consecutive sessions, in order for us to pay attention to its dissolution?
The Council is the same; its members have not changed and Egypt will remain as it is because the ruling regime wants this!
I was not interested in the avalanche of news about the possibility of a decision to dissolve the People's Assembly, and when a smart citizen asked me a few days ago: "Is it possible for a loose council to be dissolved?!" I realized that the Egyptian street is very intelligent and more discerning than the elite society which governs it.
Many now believe in the theory of optimal 'cubes'; one cube over another, beside another and we are all objects to be moved around. I am a cube and you are a cube. And what my colleague Soleiman Gouda wrote yesterday about "brainstorming" confirms this.
How does this ruling regime with its parties and governments, imagine that it is governing over stupid people. Were they seduced by our reluctance and silent political participation that our deception isn't worth some effort to produce convincing brainstormed cubes?!

They tell us that if the People's Assembly is 'dissolved' it will be for the courageous women, as the "women's quota" is essential. It is as if the believe that Egypt's women will leave if the Assembly is dissolved now and not tomorrow. "Niswan" (women) – in classical Arabic – will be liberated from the country if the elections were held on time in 2010.
This is a futile 'cube' and the justification does not deceive anyone. Moreover – and this is most important – the current Council is as pretty as a flower. The National Democratic Party (NDP) deputies enter the room with their hands extended and the hands remain on hold until Fathi Sorour announces his famous maxim "we agree."

As for the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) they must have watched a comedy and believed it. The movie is in the Parliament preparatory school of "Khalil Babaz". The members scream at each other to draw laughter from the audience.
They remain so until the movie ends, and leave the viewers with jokes that the deputies made. But none of the viewers, after leaving the cinema, said they saw a movie about the parliament!
It makes no difference if the Assembly is dissolved as it is not perceived as a parliament. It is merely an exhibition and a fun 'show'. It is only an exchange of accusations and muscular display without reforming anything. Sometimes it becomes more fun and enjoyable when the show is about prostitutes and women of questionable character.
What will be the case then when the Council is full of women deputies as per the quota?! Will Dr. Fathi Sorour free himself to resolve the catfights? Or will he issue a parliamentary decision, with the consent of the majority, denying the entry of women without the proper dress code into the Golden Chamber?!
I urge you dear reader not to overwork your head with the feverish topic of the 'dissolution of the Assembly'.  If it is not dissolved the circus will remain. If it is dissolved do not think that women are the reason.  Be certain that there is a great cube that was put in place.
This cube has nothing to do with – absolutely nothing at all – the question of "women's quota." But it is closely and intimately linked with a great major step. I believe you all know why. As for the ruling regime it is the only one that does not know that we know why. Something very much akin to the movie, "I know you know that I know!"
