Baghdad - Three people were wounded Saturday when a bomb blast hit an area in southeastern Baghdad, a security source was quoted saying. The source told Alghad Press that the explosive devices went off near a popular market in Bawi, Madaen, southeast of the capital. The police and civil protection units arrived to the crime scene and the wounded were transferred to hospital, a police source told the Iraqi news agency. Violence and armed conflicts left 297 Iraqis dead and wounded during the month of ِAugust, according to a monthly count by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq which excludes security members deaths. Baghdad was the most affected province with 45 deaths and 135 injuries.
