Cairo - Qatari Ambassador to Egypt Saif Moqadam Al-Boenain arrived at Cairo International Airport on Thursday coming from Kuwait to assume his duties as Qatar's representative to the Arab League. Al-Boenain had left Cairo on Wednesday, June 7, after Cairo's decision to cut off diplomatic ties with Doha. His arrival procedures were finalized at the airport's VIP lounge, security sources told Al-Bawaba News. Al-Boenain left Cairo on Wednesday, June 7, evening, returning to Doha following the expiration of a 48 hour formal notice set by Egypt amid ongoing strained ties with the Gulf state. Egypt imposed a flight ban to and from Qatar on Tuesday, June 6, closing off Egyptian airspace to Qatari airplanes that seek to land or fly over Egyptian territories. Egypt's flagship carrier EgyptAir has suspended flights from and to Doha until further notice, forcing Cairo-bound passengers seeking travel from Qatar to pass first through Jordan, Kuwait, or Turkey. On Monday, June 5, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt broke diplomatic ties with Qatar and cut off air, sea and land access to the country over Doha's support for terrorist groups.
