Experts of International Law praised the initiative adopted by Egyptian member of parliament Abdel Rahim Ali to document the crimes committed by the Qatari regime which will pave the way for prosecuting the leaders of the country before the international court, and undermine its plans to fuel tensions in the Arab world. Dr. Mosad Abdel Aaty, member of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Association of International Law, said that it is an important initiative to prosecute the Qatari leaders before the international courts, saying, "If the International Criminal Court is not competent to consider the issues related to terrorism, the UN Security Council could perform such a role based upon Chapter VII of the UN Charter which condemns governments supporting terrorism." He stressed that the states supporting terrorism financially, or militarily should face sanctions, blaming the Gulf's tiny state for providing terrorist groups with safe shelters and weapons. He stressed that both Qatar and Turkey do not honor their international commitments, saying that they provide financial and media support for terrorist groups.
