Cairo - By almost every measure, Egypt's tourism industry is ailing. The number of arrivals was diminished nearly to half between 2015 and 2016. Recent terrorist attacks on the country's Coptic churches, some of which are popular sites among both religious and secular tourists, served as a reminder that danger and instability continue to plague the once-popular sight-seeing country, since 2011. In the midst of this lengthy slump, at least one company is not only getting nostalgic about tourism from Egypt's past glory days, but are actively trying to recreate the heyday of Egyptian tourism. The Indian hotel group, Oberoi, has been operating cruises on the Nile River since 2007 when it launched the 27-cabin Oberoi Zahra. After initial success offering luxury cruises that stopped at the ancient attractions along the river, Oberoi doubled down by purchasing the 15-year-old Philae and renovated it into a 22-stateroom luxury hotel boat.
