Abuja - Abubakar Shekau, leader of the terrorist group Boko Haram, was injured in a bombing conducted by Nigerian air force jets. Security and civilian sources said that they targeted militants who had gathered in the village of Balla, in Nigeria, but the confirmation on the injury of Shekau came from Babakura Kolo, who is a member of the civilian militia in Maiduguri. "Among them is his deputy named Malam Abba. They suffered heavy casualties because the bombings targeted a large gathering of his followers attending Friday prayers," media outlets quoted Kolo as saying. "Shekau was wounded in the bombings and is believed to be receiving treatment near the Nigerian border with Cameroon around Kolofata," an unnamed source in contact with Boko Haram said.
