Egyptian Coptic Churches in Southern Egypt announced they would not hold Easter celebrations this year, in mourning of the 45 Christians, who were killed in Sunday's two bomb attacks in Alexandria and Tanta. Archdiocese would memorialize Easter 'without any festive manifestations', The Minya Coptic Orthodox archdiocese stated. Archbishop Makarious of Minya and Abu Korkas posted on his Facebook page that "Easter masses will be limited to prayers only," without any ceremonial manifestations. The archbishop justified the cancellation of all shapes of ceremonial manifestations as a result of "the current circumstances the country and the Church are witnessing." Amid celebrations of Egypt's Copts of the Palm Sunday, a bombing hit St. George Church in the Egyptian city of Tanta, Gharbeya governorate.
