Today, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met with the U.S. National Security Adviser, Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster. President El Sisi affirmed Egypt's keenness on enhancing its relations with the U.S. as a strategic partner. He stated that he looks forward to ushering in a new phase in bilateral ties, particularly after his positive and fruitful talks with President Donald Trump at the White House, which reflected a mutual interest in strengthening and promoting the strategic cooperation between the two countries. The President noted that security and military cooperation between Egypt and the U.S. is an important pillar for bilateral relations and affirmed that boosting this cooperation will realize mutual interests and enable them to address the unprecedented challenges that the Middle East is facing. Lt. Gen. McMaster emphasized the importance that the new American administration attaches to enhancing relations with Egypt at all levels and to collaborating to effectuate cooperation frameworks between the two countries. He lauded Egypt's serious counter-terrorism efforts and President El Sisi's keenness on fighting extremism through security and military measures as well as developmental and cultural aspects. He stressed the importance of boosting cooperation between Egypt and the U.S. to counter terrorism in the coming period and looked forward to increasing coordination and consultation with Egypt on various challenges that the Middle East is facing as well as ways to reach solutions to ongoing crises so as to restore stability in the region. The meeting touched on ways to enhance cooperation between Egypt and the U.S. at various levels, particularly security and military cooperation. This is in addition to enhancing regional and international efforts to counter terrorism, which is a major challenge for the Middle East and the world.
