Cairo - Grand Imam of Al Azhar Sheikh Ahmed Al Tayeb praised on Monday the deep-rooted relations binding Al Azhar (the most prominent religious institute in Sunni-Muslims world) and Indonesia in education and Islamic call (Daawa) fields. The remarks came during a meeting with the visiting Indonesian foreign affairs minister Retno Marsudi. Indonesia is home to the largest Muslim population in Asia, Tayeb noted. Azhar initiative to gather Myanmar society factions in Cairo is an important step to find a solution for the Rohingya people, problem he said, noting to the ethnic, cultural, economic and social dimensions of the conflict. The Grand Imam said Azhar is ready to take steps to find a solution to the cultural and educational problems facing Myanmar' Muslims via sending teachers and imams of mosques there.
