Families of kidnapped Egyptians in Libya expressed their outrage over the silence of foreign ministry towards their sons' case, threatening to escalate their protest to President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, al-Masry al-Youm reported Saturday. "The authorities failed to return our sons to home," members of the kidnapped workers told al-Masry al-Youm, affirming that they will stage a protest in front of foreign affairs ministry on Sunday. Unidentified militants kidnapped eight Egyptian workers in Libya, asking for LD 100 thousand in ransom to release them. The workers were kidnapped during their return to Egypt, when militants blocked their way, and escorted them to unknown place between Beni Walid and Misurata, assistant foreign minister Hisham el-Naqib said. El-Naqib affirmed that Egypt is cooperating with Libyan authorities to liberate its nationals, and arrest the kidnappers as soon as possible. The ministry renewed its warning against traveling to Libyan territories, due to the unrest it witnesses since the ousting of Guddafi. In early 2015, 21 Egyptians were beheaded by the terrorist group, Islamic State (IS).
