Canal Suez Authority head, Mohab Mamish announced that 227 Ships weighing 13.8 million tons transited the canal over the past five days, Youm7 News reported Friday. Mamish pointed out that 102 ships weighing 6.5 million tons have crossed through the north of the canal, while 125 ships weighing 7.3 million tons have crossed through the south. He added that the largest ship crossed the canal from the north was the Danish "MUNKEBO MAERSK" container ship, coming from Netherlands heading to Singapore weighing 200 thousand tons, while the largest ship to cross from the south was the Panamanian "MSC LONDON" container ship weighing also 182 thousand tons.
