Canal Suez Authority head, Mohab Mamish announced that 263 Ships weighing 15.7 million tons transited the canal in a week, Youm7 News reported Friday. Mamish pointed out that 126 ships weighing 7.6 million tons have crossed through the north of the canal, adding that 137 ships weighing 8.1 million tons have crossed through the south. The largest ship crossed the canal from the north was the Danish "MADISON MAERK" container ship coming from Netherlands, heading to Singapore weighing 200 thousand tons, while the largest ship to cross from the south was the Danish "MOGENS MAERSK" container ship weighing also 200 thousand tons.
