Canal Suez Authority head, Mohab Mamish announced that 270 Ships weighing 15.9 million tons transited the canal in a week, Youm7 News reported Friday. Mamish pointed out that 130 ships weighing 7.6 million tons have crossed through the north of the canal, adding that 140 ships weighing 8.3 million tons have crossed through the south. The largest ship crossed the canal from the north was the Maltese "AL ZUBARA" container ship coming from Netherlands, heading to Malaysia weighing 200 thousand tons, while the largest ship to cross from the south was the Danish "MARCHEN MAERSK" container ship weighing also 200 thousand tons.
