Canal Suez Authority head, Mohab Mamish announced that 271 Ships weighing 14.8 million tons crossed through the canal in the last six days, Youm7 News reported Friday. Mamish pointed out that 136 ships weighing 6.7 million tons have crossed through the north of the canal, adding that 135 ships weighing 8.1 million tons have crossed through the south. The largest ship crossed the canal from the north was the Danish "MARIE MAERSK" container ship coming from Spain, heading to Malaysia weighing 200 thousand tons, while the largest ship to cross from the south was the Danish "METTE MAERSK" container ship weighing also 200 thousand tons.
