Egypt's Suez Canal Authority Head Mohab Mamish said 228 Ships weighing 12.3 million tons have crossed through the canal in the last five days, Youm7 News reported Thursday. Mamish pointed out that 112 ships weighing 1 million and 300 thousand tons had crossed from the north gate, adding that 117 ships weighing 5 million tons and 700 thousand tons had crossed from the south. The largest ship that crossed the canal from the north was the Danish ship "MARIE MAERSK" coming from Spain, heading to Singapore weighing 200,000 tons, while the largest ship that crossed the canal from the south was the Danish ship "MERETE MAERSK" weighing also 200,000 tons, he added.
