Cairo prosecution office called Monday for security personnel working at Syndicate of Journalists, to hear their statements on storming of the syndicate's headquarters in Cairo, Al Bawaba News reported. The security personnel are expected to reveal their side of the story concerning the crisis between Syndicate of Journalists and the ministry of interior, which surfaced after security forces stormed into the syndicate's headquarters earlier this month. As a result, a number of journalists organized a sit-in as a sign of protest against the storming of their syndicate's headquarters by security forces and the arrest of two journalists. Shubra El-Kheima prosecution office ordered detention of two journalists, Amr Badr and Mahmoud Al Sakka for 15 days in Tora prison pending investigations. Both journalists are accused of attempting to overthrow the government, changing the state's constitution and Republican system, as well as joining associations, bodies and organizations that seek to disable the provisions of the constitution and laws. The two journalists are also charged with preventing state institutions and authorities from carrying out their work, harming national unity and social peace, in addition to distributing false information likely to disturb public security.
