On the level of permanent delegates, the Arab League (AL) decided to hold an emergency meeting next Wednesday upon the request of Qatar to discuss the dangerous escalation of the situation in the Syrian city of Aleppo, Al-Bawaba News reported Saturday. AL had announced in a memorandum circulated by member states that the decision based on consultations and contacts conducted by the Secretariat and the Kingdom of Bahrain, the current president of the Council of the AL with member states approval by Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. In a note issued by Qatar urging the General Secretariat of the AL to hold an emergency meeting to discuss the deteriorating situation in Aleppo signaling to the agony and fall of as a result of the continuous shelling by Syrian regime forces on the city.
