The hijacker of the EgyptAir flight MS-181 at Larnaca Airport has exited the plane and surrendered himself to local authorities. Immediately before his surrender, one person - assumed to be a crew member - was seen jumping from the cockpit window, while another three exited the plane via the steps. Both Larnaca International Airport and the surrounding areas - including nearby MacKenzie Beach - were evacuated as six Egyptian negotiators arrived at the airport earlier in the day, SigmaTV reports. The TV station has reported that information from Israeli authorities suggested that more than one hijacker could be on the plane, though reports are still unconfirmed. Three passengers, the pilot, co-pilot, and 3 crew members remained on the plane at 2pm local time. Reports as to the number currently remaining on board are coming in. 72 passengers were initially on board the flight. After releasing the majority of the passengers, the hijacker began his demands. He has requested that women being held in Egyptian prisons should be set free, sources told Sigma TV. He has also asked for a translator and political asylum in Cyprus, as well as to be able to send a four-page letter to a Cypriot woman from the village of Oroklini.
