Grand Imam of Al Azhar Ahmed Al Tayeb prepares for tour in East Asia during the coming period, Youm7 reported on Wednesday. Sources revealed that the Islamic leader demanded his technical office to prepare a report about the position of Burma's Muslims days before the visit. Tayeb's demand comes after a meeting between Azhar's Secretary Abbas Shoman and a delegation from Burma's Muslim scholars who participate in the training course organized by the Islamic institution. Burmese scholars briefed the Egyptian official on the recent developments witnessed in their country, expressing their appreciation to the efforts exerted by Azhar to support their issue. Tayeb's coming tour in Asia is the first of its kind, as it will include Malaysia and Indonesia. He is also scheduled to visit France and a number of African states upon invitations from the leaders of these countries.
