CAIRO: Egypt's Al-Azhar institution demanded that women wear a head scarf and modest clothing during their visits to the Islamic institution to show respect. Al-Azhar is the highest Sunni authority in the Muslim world. Al-Azhar demanded that embassies, institutions and authorities to be cautious in dealing with this matter when they send delegations to Al-Azhar. Ahmed al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, demanded that employees of al-Azhar who receive delegations including unveiled women require those women to cover their heads before meeting with the grand Imam. Al-Tayeb has received a number of foreign delegations that included unveiled women. He said this embarrassed him so he took the mentioned decision to avoid repeating such a situation in the future.
