Egyptian army killed eight Wilayat Sinai terrorist group militants in North Sinai's Sheikh Zuweid city, Al Bawaba News reported Saturday. The army clashed with the militants who were trying to plant four improvised explosive devices, succeeding to defuse them as well as killing eight militants. Since September 2013, the Egyptian army and police have been carrying out an ongoing military campaign against Wilayat Sinai, formerly known as Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis, after it had claimed responsibility for several attacks targeting Egyptian military and police personnel. In 2014, the group announced its allegiance to Islamic State jihadist group.
