Turkish authorities have arrested a suspected ISIS member for allegedly planning to attack the US consulate in Istanbul on Tuesday, Turkey's Today Zaman reported. The threat of the suicide attack closed the consulate for one day on December 15. "Muhammad Raghil Al Hardani, a Syrian national, was detained by security forces at the Kahramanmaras bus station," Today Zaman reported. According to Turkish security officials al Hardani had recently entered Turkey from Syria. The Turkish security had informed the US consulate about the threat and provided information on the planned attack. Al Hardani's capture comes at a time when the Islamic State (ISIS) has expended its activities beyond the borders of Iraq and Syria where the group maintains its bases.
