Egyptian army killed Monday five Wilayat Sinai terrorist group militants in North Sinai's Arish city, Al Bawaba News reported. The army clashed with the militants who were preparing to launch attacks against army personnel, killing five militants and arresting 50 others. Since September 2013, the Egyptian army has been carrying out an ongoing military campaign against Wilayat Sinai, formerly known as Ansar Bayt Al Maqdis, after it claimed responsibility for several deadly attacks targeting Egyptian military and police personnel. In 2014, the group announced its allegiance to Islamic State (IS) jihadist group.
