Egyptian army killed Monday 12 Wilayat Sinai terrorist group militants in central Sinai, Al Bawaba News reported. The army had launched several raids targeting the militants who were hiding inside one of Sinai's Maghara Mountain caves, killing 12 militants as well as arresting 12 others. Since September 2013, the Egyptian army has been carrying out an ongoing military campaign against Wilayat Sinai, formerly known as Ansar Bayt Al Maqdis, after it claimed responsibility for several deadly attacks targeting Egyptian military and police personnel. In 2014, the group announced its allegiance to Islamic State (IS) jihadist group.
