Minister of Culture, Helmi al-Namnam, welcomed a delegation from Pompidou Arts Center in Paris and the French Cultural Advisor in Cairo, Ronon Briggon, to discuss ways of mutual cooperation in the presence of the head of the Fine Arts sector, Hamdi Abul Maati and the head of the Foreign Cultural Relations sector, Camelia Subhi, Al-Bawaba News reported. The Pompidou Center requested an exhibition entitled "Surrealism in Egypt" that includes surreal Egyptian art and paintings that will be hosted in France then moved to Germany and Britain to introduce the European community to the art of surrealism in Egypt. The meeting also discussed the details of the exhibition, Egypt's participation, the foundations of the art work chosen to be displayed and the exhibition period, which runs from September 2016 until June 2017. Egypt's Minister of Culture and France's Cultural Counselor agreed to prepare artistic, cultural protocol cooperation, increase joint activities and support cultural exchanges.
