A source within Accountability State Authority (ASA) said Sunday in a statement to Al-Bawaba News that ASA is waiting for the High Elections Committee (HEC) to ask it to monitor the upcoming parliamentary elections. However, the source who spoke to Al-Bawaba on condition of anonymity revealed that the ASA continues to monitor the expenditure of political parties, syndicates and government bodies during the elections. This came after the announcement of the Egyptian Trade Union Federation of stopping its financial aid worth EGP 20 thousand to its candidates who are running for parliament and just provide moral support. This move has prompted dozens to change their intentions to run for parliament, despite the union's commitment to organize meetings for candidates to urge people to vote for them.
