Putin Likely to Bring Up Syria, Anti-ISIS Fight in UNGA Speech

Russian President Vladimir Putin is planning to attend the upcoming session of the UN General Assembly, which is scheduled to open at UN Headquarters in New York on September 15.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is likely to touch upon the situation in Syria and the fight against the Islamic State during his speech at the UN General Assembly, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Thursday.
Putin addressed UN General Assembly in 2000, 2003, and 2005.
A meeting on the sidelines between Putin and US President Barack Obama is not on the Russian leader's agenda, Peskov added.
"So far there isn't a meeting on the agenda. Naturally, if the sides see that their working schedules allow for one and if some sort of initiative arises, then [a meeting] would be worked out more specifically, but so far there is no meeting scheduled."
