The expected production of Eni's newly found gas field off the coast of Egypt may exceed the announced conservative estimate of 850 billion cubic meters of gas, the chief executive of the Italian oil and gas group (Eni S.p.A) said on Wednesday. Claudio Descalzi said, during a senate hearing in Rome, that Eni expects a total investment of between $6-10 billion for the development of the Zohr gas field in Egypt, indicating that it is too early to make estimates. He also said that he expected Italian oil services group Saipem to play a big role in the development of the field, without giving details.
